ABOUT
Parents play a crucial role in educating their children on sex. But because of the conservative nature of Asians, parents are often unwilling to speak about sex with their children, and consequently, many teenagers are unaware of sexual matters. “Knowing Yourself” is an Educational Exhibition Centre where teenagers can seek knowledge and help on sexual matters. It aims to inculcate the right values for teenagers to become responsible individuals.

Sex education plays an important part in preventing teenage pregnancies, so the design concept is based from the word ‘restriction’. To relate that word with the design, the spaces are developed to be narrow and provides an uncomfortable experience to visitors as it restricts and limits their movement. The design concept also mirrors the narrow feature and shape of the uterus.

Gillman Barracks is currently used to hold events, art galleries and exhibtions. It is located near Labrador Park station.
